2015 Nissan Rogue

The 2015 Nissan Rogue boasts style, safety, and surprisingly great gas mileage

Last year, Nissan completed a much-needed redesign of Rogue, its popular compact crossover utility vehicle, which remains unchanged for 2015. While it isn’t perfect, it is fun, attainable, and has lots of personality.

The Rogue is a five-seat utility vehicle now available with three rows of seats, more of an all-weather versus all-terrain car, and comparable in size to the Toyota RAV4 and Ford Escape. It also comes with an array of available technological amenities like around view camera monitoring, blind-spot warning, and lane-departure warning systems.

The first thing you’ll notice, however, is the sharper styling that has more aggressive lines than the previous generation. Nissan has a history of hit-or-miss design, but this one is a definite hit.

As much as I like the exterior, I like the interior even more. It features a fresh, modern instrument panel, sculpted seats, crystal-clear displays, and intuitive, easy-to-use controls.

But what I didn’t expect was that the Rogue would be such a pleasure to drive — with the added bonus of decent gas mileage.

I tested the midlevel SV trim level, powered by a 2.5-liter, 170-horsepower 4-cylinder engine, paired with a continuously variable automatic. The same engine and transmission combo powers the entry-level S and upscale SL trim levels.

Overall, the 2015 Rogue is an excellent choice for shoppers desiring a high-value, comfortable, and versatile small crossover SUV.
