New REAL-ID Enforcement Date
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Homeland Security has postponed the REAL-ID enforcement date from October 1, 2021 to May 3, 2023. Pennsylvania residents will need a REAL-ID compliant driver’s license or another form of federally-accepted identification, such as a passport, to board a domestic flight or enter a federal building or military facility that requires ID.
Ready for REAL ID? Bring these to a PennDOT driver's license center to get pre-verified:
- 2 proofs of current address: Current PA driver’s license, bank statement, vehicle registration card, or utility bill
- Proof of ID: Birth certificate or U.S. passport
- Proof of any name changes: Marriage license, court order, or divorce decree
- Social Security Card
