Top 10 Carry-On Items for Your Next Flight

As you’re preparing for your next flight, AAA Travel recommends 10 items to consider putting in your carry-on bag.

  1. Neck pillow – Good for supporting necks and propping up heads.
  2. Noise cancelling ear buds – Ear plugs, headphones, ear buds – whatever it takes, they can be a lifesaver when seated near crying babies and loud talkers.
  3. Hand sanitizer – Handy in a lot of circumstances.
  4. Lip balm – Airplane air can be quite dry, leading to chapped lips, which is the last thing you want while traveling.
  5. Hand lotion – Ditto above for preventing dry, rough hands.
  6. Cash and credit cards – Most airlines take only one or the other for purchases of beverages.
  7. Pre-pasted toothbrush – Sometimes a fresh, minty mouth is all you need to regroup after a long day of travel.
  8. Soft socks – High altitude cabin pressure can lead to swollen feet. Socks are probably a better idea than going barefoot.
  9. Prescription medicines – In the unlikely event the airline loses your checked luggage.
  10. A change of clothes –  You'll appreciate having a set of fresh clothes if your bags don't arrive when you do.
